Pickering is an ancient market town in North Yorkshire that is steeped in history. Known as ‘Gateway to the Moors’ it sits at the foot of the moors overlooking the Vale of Pickering and is a great base for exploring North Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Coast, and the Dalby Forest. The Bay Horse Inn is a well-loved pub located at the heart of Pickering. Set in a Grade II listed building it is full of charm, with beamed ceilings, open fires, and plenty of unique features including a display of local artwork. The Bay Horse is steeped in history which remains a key feature of the pub, originally a Burgage in the time of King Edward I and is said to have been frequented by Oliver Cromwell. It’s famous for its delicious food menu full of pub favourites and serves a quality range of drinks including cask marque-accredited ales.

Internally the pub is spread over two floors and boasts two bars. Guests enter the pub on the first floor, perfect for a relaxed drinking experience. Next door is the main bar area with a cosy, comfortable atmosphere and seating for dining. As well as this there is a darts area and a pool room which could easily be converted into additional dining space. The pub also benefits from a first-floor restaurant home to the famous Sunday carvery.
