Dating back to the 1860s, with brick construction, it is not apparent from the outside that the property is sunk deep into sandstone caves, which fork into two vaulted caverns. The bar area can accommodate up to 50 in an L-shaped area with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The bar servery hosts 5 hand pulls supported with craft beers and continental lagers, premium spirits, and the wines are supplied through an independent importer.

The main cave is suitably furnished in character and is the main dining area, but adapts to a superb entertainment and general drinking room on an evening, with accommodation for 60 people, the cavern creating its majestic vibe.

The pub is supported by Quiz nights and entertainment in the Cavern, brewery tap takeovers, and cheese and wine evenings.

The private accommodation consists of two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite, a large lounge, a kitchen, and a bathroom, all to a high standard with hardwood flooring throughout and private access from the rear of the pub.

Trading style

The Heart & Hands is a High Street location, but with the special cave features, it is also a destination venue for a unique experience with a community feel, with plenty of locals from the Ropewalk and Park residential areas.

Trading free of tie, there is access to over 100 local brewers, and the pub is proud of its cask and craft beer selection. A food service is offered from Thursday to Saturday on the main menu and a Sunday menu from 12 – 5 pm., an important part of the week's trade.
