Property details
The Trafalgar public house is located in the historic town of Aldershot, also known as the home to the British Army. Only 30 miles from London, it lies in the North-East of Hampshire and has a population of around 40,000. With great rail and road links, fantastic schools, and great leisure facilities, Aldershot is widely regarded as a very popular and attractive place to live with Garrison Towns scattering the vicinity. Known locally as 'The Traf' it has strong links with the local military mainly focussing on the paras and being known as one of the last traditional pubs in the town, it boasts an abundance of military paraphernalia and memorabilia in and around the pub.
Entering the pub at one corner, you are greeted by a large L-shaped bar, serving three distinct trade areas, which the landlords believe historically would have been three separate bars. With a mixture of low and high-level seating throughout, the internal layout of the trade area is very much focused on having the bar at the centre of the space. To the right of the entrance and bar, there is a small snug area leading onto a pool table and darts board which are both very popular. To the left, is some bar stool seating around higher tables. With the pub being L-shaped, it also creates a lovely enclosed, external courtyard to the rear, with seating available for around 15 people to enjoy.
The domestic accommodation is very spacious and comprises three bedrooms, a lounge, a bathroom, a kitchen, and an office.

Trading style
The Trafalgar public house trades as a wet-only site, however could easily provide a small food offer for functions and events for the various garrison regiments and groups. It is a favourable site for meetings and socials as well as being a good live music venue with its own following and regular monthly bookings proving popular. Rugby and national sporting events also provide a welcome income stream and can be very busy although Sky has not proved worthwhile in the recent past.
Events for Army & Paratroopers are a necessity at this site as customers are known to come from all over the world to visit this particular venue. Participation and support of these events will need to be continued as the site is known as the pub to visit for all Paras – current and past.
The landlords are seeking an enthusiastic and community focussed licensee, who will engage with the locals and also continue the relationships with the parachute regiment and the Army. Ideally an ex-serviceman or from a military background, the prospective applicant will drive the business forward with an enticing calendar of events and music nights alongside continued support in various avenues for the Paras. Improving sales by having a great range of beers and spirits available as well as, a well-maintained cask ale offer, will play a vital role in ‘The Traf’ being a thriving business.
