Bridgnorth is a bridging point over the River Severn and the northern terminus of the Severn Valley heritage steam railway. It also acts as a local centre for shopping and other services and attracts many tourist visitors. The property is situated fronting Cartway lying to the eastern side of the town centre. Cartway comprises a narrow steeply sloping lane which in historic times formed the principal approach to the town centre from the east. The street itself is very attractive and it attracts sightseers wanting to experience the quaintness the Cartway offers.
