The area was previously a mining town but is now a hub for distribution centres due to its proximity to the M6 and M62 motorway networks and is also famous for Haydock Park Racecourse nearby.
The pub is a large community site with a bar and lounge both serviced by a central bar servery. It is a traditional pub with darts and pool being popular as well as live sporting events predominantly rugby league and football. There are several large-screen TVs in both rooms to accommodate sports viewing.

The pub trades very much as a community local and is one of a few pubs remaining in the area. Rugby, football, darts, pool, and regular live entertainment/karaoke are very much the life-blood of the pub generating a real community ‘hub’ feel making the pub a centre-point and focal point for the surrounding community. The pub is very much a wet-led site but this can be developed with food being provided should the successful applicant(s) want to do so.
