Property details
Nestled beneath the stunning Longstone Edge, Great Longstone is a picturesque limestone village with a rich history and a welcoming community of around 600 residents. Set around a charming green with a historic cross, the village features a delightful mix of quaint cottages, a majestic Georgian Manor House, and a 13th-century church, all contributing to its unique character.
As you approach The White Lion, you are greeted by the impressive 17th-century brick façade of this charming inn. Several picnic benches at the front of the pub entice people to the door.
On entering the pub to the left of the front doors you have a little snug area where you will find your regulars and can accommodate 15 to 20 people and has the benefit of a working open fire. To the right of the doorway, you are met with the main bar, which is of a good size and well stocked, 2 hand pumps plus a selection of ciders and lagers are on offer. The bar area seats around 30 people with again, the traditional fittings and an open fire.
To the back of the pub, there is what historically was known as the “restaurant area”, which has since been opened up and made more inclusive of the rest of the pub with approximately 30 covers. There is a good-sized, fully equipped kitchen, with a separate KP and prep area, along with an extensive storage area to the rear. In addition to the storage, there is also a huge garage, which is split into a storage space and a log and coal store.
On the first floor, you will find a beautiful open and light function room, which has been titivated, updated, and well maintained, ideal for any event, including wedding parties for up to 50 people.
From the function room, you can access a quaint garden to the rear, which is currently being utilised for personal use given the nature and access to it. The pub has an extensive car park to the rear and a UA access entrance to the side.
The pub boasts a large private accommodation, which overlooks the village at the front of the pub. In brief, it comprises: Three large double bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms, a good-sized living room, an office area, a kitchen, and a family bathroom.
